ATO Staff spokesman: Militants shell Ukrainian troops along frontline from 120-mm mortars and 122-mm howitzers

Kyiv, June 16, 2015. The number of attacks committed by Russia-backed militants has increased as they fired 30 times at the Ukrainian troops before midnight. “They have fired in the Donetsk sector near Pisky, Opytne and Starohnativka from 120-mm mortars and 122-mm howitzers as well as shelled Shyrokyne seven times,” said Anton Myronovych, ATO Staff spokesman, at the press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

Moreover, militants fired upon Troyitske and Novhorodske three times. In the Luhansk sector, Krymske came under fire from weapons prohibited by Minsk agreements. Stanytsia Luhanska and Shchastya were fired upon from small arms. “Pro-Russian militants used mortars and artillery systems with caliber exceeding 100-mm to attack Zolote in Luhansk region as well as Orikhove and Shyrokyne in the Donetsk region. Fire at Pisky, Opytne and Stanytsia Luhanska continued from small arms and grenade launchers,” added the ATO Staff spokesman.
