European Union launches creative project for youth in Ukraine

Kyiv, February 16, 2016. Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine is holding the nationwide campaign “EU: the choice of Ukrainian youth” for the second year in a row. A series of events will take place in the framework of the project including Euroquiz, video, photo, blogs and musical contests as well as discussion clubs. Activities are to take place in all regions of Ukraine including Mariupol in Donetsk region and Severodonetsk in Luhansk region. “We realize that there is no need to be convincing people in Kyiv, moreover youngsters that the European choice is important. That’s why we will be headed to the east and south [of the country],” said David Stulik, Press Officer at the EU Delegation to Ukraine at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

Lyudmyla Kudina, Head of “Youth Alternative” NGO, coordinator of the project “EU: the Choice of Ukrainian Youth” noted that the project targets participants aged 16-30. She said the photo competition offers a chance to all willing to demonstrate their vision of relations between Ukraine and the European Union. Twenty best works will be presented at the exhibition in May. Contest of blogs is a new entry this year. “We would like to see success stories of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, interesting information that youngsters would like to transmit. No jury will be present at this competition, we shall define the winner based on the number of clicks and likes,” explained Kudina.

Iryna Dyba, coordinator of the project “EU: the Choice of Ukrainian Youth”, said that one of best videos is to be selected by voting. Other two will be chosen by the jury. According to Dyba participants of discussion clubs will have a chance to speak to MPs, entrepreneurs, civic activists, journalists etc. A total of 30 discussions will be held, they will take place in all regions.
