Kyiv, July 20, 2016. The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NAZK) signed a Memorandum for cooperation and information exchange. According to this document, NAZK will have access to the registers of the Ministry of Justice. This will synchronize registers with the system of electronic declaration and help to verify the reliability of the information provided in declarations. “This concerns the real estate register, business register, designations of authority register, anti-corruption register, which is made by the Ministry of Justice itself. […] I want to announce officially that the Justice Ministry will assist NAZK to operate the registry. It is important that this anti-corruption body should be the most effective and start working in the near future,” said Pavlo Petrenko, Minister of Justice of Ukraine, at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

“This Memorandum’s function is more than access to the registry,” said Natalia Korchak, Head of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption. In particular, the Memorandum stipulates that the parties will “provide each other with comprehensive support to develop cooperation.” “The National Agency will not be able to exercise their functions without sharing information with the corresponding government agencies, but it is important to study together. We will appreciate professional support of those who already have skills and knowledge in this area. It is important to share best practices and coordinate positions,” stressed Ms. Korchak. She also urged the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine to join these agreements.

Pavlo Petrenko also reported that the Ministry of Justice had registered NAZK decision on approving the accountability form for political parties. They also approved the declaration form. “It will be published in the next edition of the Ministry of Justice,” said the Minister of Justice.
