Militants open fire from 122-mm cannon battery, launching almost 20 shells at Ukrainian positions in the Mariupol sector. Mortar launchers, light weapons and APCs are used in the Donetsk sector. Another crime takes place on the occupied territory.

Kyiv, October 10, 2016. The process of the Framework Agreement implementation on troops and equipment disengagement approved by the Trilateral contact group, continues. Disengagement took place in Zolote, but the area has not been cleared of mines and a checkpoint does not function due to the militants’ counteraction. Disengagement took place in Petrivske and the area has been demined. Disengagement did not take place in Stanytsia Luhanska due to regular militants’ attacks. The most recent episode took place on October 6 just after the midnight, informed Colonel Andriy Lysenko, spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on ATO related issues at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. “Flights of OSCE unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) took place in Zolote and Petrivske for the purposes of monitoring the Framework agreement implementation,” added Col. Lysenko.

The situation improved considerably in the Luhansk sector. Only two militants’ attacks took place in this sector during the hours of darkness – in Triokhizbenka and Novooleksandrivka. No heavy armor was used during the attacks.

The hostilities in the Donetsk sector continued in two points – Novhorodske and Avdiivka. Russian proxies were shooting from the east direction in both positions. “In addition to light weapons, the occupants used a mortar launcher and an armored personnel carrier,” said Col. Lysenko. In total, four militants’ attacks took place in the past 24 hours in the Donetsk sector, including one mortar attack.

Mariinka and Shyrokyne remain the flashpoints in the Mariupol sector, like in the previous days. For instance, militants are shooting in Mariinka almost non-stop during the hours of darkness. “Occupants used mortar launcher, in addition to light weapons. The adversaries opened fire from 122-mm cannon battery, launching almost 20 shells at Ukrainian positions,” said the spokesman. This violation of the Minsk agreements took place during the day, between 11 and 12 o’clock. “Moreover, hostile attacks took place in Hranitne and Pavlopil,” added Col. Lysenko. In total, 16 militants’ attacks took place in the Mariupol sector yesterday, and three of them involved use of heavy armor. Moreover, two flights of militants’ UAVs were registered in the Donetsk and Mariupol sectors.

Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no losses in combat yesterday, but four troops were injured. Confirmed losses of militants amount to two people dead and two wounded from so-called “100th brigade” and “9th regiment” of Russian troops.

According to the information provided by Ukrainian military intelligence, another crime
of Russian troops took place. “An artillery captain from so-called “7th separate motorized rifle brigade, being in a state of alcoholic intoxication, caused a road traffic accident resulting in a death of a civilian. It happened in Stakhanov yesterday,” said Col. Lysenko. When the occupation “police” arrived, the captain claimed to have an “immunity” on the grounds of serving in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, namely the 70th separate motorized rifle brigade (homebase – Ussuriisk, Primorskiy krai), which is 9000 km from Donbas.
