Ministry of Defense: Number of attacks drastically decreases in Mariupol sector

The number of militants’ attacks in the Mariupol sector drastically decreased, informed the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on ATO related issues Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. “They are shooting in Mariinka district – Krasnohorivka, Mariinka and the coastal area,” said Col. Motuzyanyk. In total, seven militants’ attacks took place in the Mariupol sector yesterday, and two of them involved use of heavy arms.

Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no losses in combat yesterday in the last 24 hours, and one serviceman was injured in Avdiivka.

Hostilities in the Luhansk sector continue along the entire front line. The biggest number of militants’ attacks took place near Popasna . The situation is restless in Krymske where mortar launchers were used multiple times. “Hostile fire delivered by Russia-backed militant groups continues in Stanytsia Luhanska. Two major series of militants’ attacks took place in the morning from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.and in the evening between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.,” elaborated the spokesman. In total, militants made 14 attacks in the Luhansk sector yesterday, using heavy weapons six times.

Main hostilities in the Donetsk sector continue in Avdiivka industrial area. “Firefights between Ukrainian troops and the occupants continued four hours with recesses. Enemies are actively using mortars, launching 39 mortar shells at Ukrainian positions,” said Col. Motuzyanyk. Moreover, militants violated the ceasefire at the Svitlodarsk bulge and in Zaitseve. The armistice held in the vicinity of the Donetsk airport yesterday. In total, five militants’ attacks took place in the Donetsk sector yesterday, and one involved use of heavy armor.
