Ministry of Defense: Militants conduct 3 to 6 mortar attacks in each sector

In addition to small arms attacks, militants used mortars 3 to 6 times in each sector of ATO zone in the last 24 hours. Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no fatal casualties, but four servicemen were wounded, reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Andriy Lysenko during a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

Russia-backed militants violated the ceasefire six times in Luhansk sector, using 120-mm mortars once in Katerynivka and two times in Krymske. They also used grenade launchers in Katerynivka and Popasna. One small arms provocation took place in Stanytsia Luhanska.

In Donetsk sector 17 ceasefire violations were recorded, six of these involved mortars. Fire intensity remained the same as on the previous days. “Three mortar attacks took place in Verkhniotoretske, two in Avdiivka and one in Zaitseve. Russian proxies fired over 60 mortar rounds at Ukrainian positions during these attacks,” said Col. Lysenko. Militants attacked with light weapons in Pisky and Opytne. The ceasefire held in Svitlodarsk area.

Militants performed 22 ceasefire violations in Mariupol sector. “They opened mortar fire three times, shelling Krasnohorivka, Vodiane and Shyrokyne. All the other attacks involved light weapons and occurred in Pavlopil – Shyrokyne frontline,” elaborated the spokesman.
