Ministry of Defense: Two Ukrainian troops killed in ATO zone yesterday and three wounded
Kyiv, June 25, 2017.

Situation in the ATO zone remains restless.  Two Ukrainian troops were killed as a result of tripping of a mine, and three sustained injuries. “Regardless of the recent agreements on maintaining the ceasefire from June 24 for the period of active farm operations, militants continue actively using heavy weaponry to shell Ukrainian troops’ positions,” informed Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO related issues Colonel Andriy Lysenko at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

In Luhansk sector militants violated the ceasefire 11 times. The situation was the most restless in Troitske. “Russian proxies attacked three times during the day, using mortars two times. Russia-backed militants fired almost 25 rounds at Ukrainian troops’ positions,” said Col. Lysenko. Another armed provocation involving mortars occurred in Katerynivka. Militants opened fire from small arms and grenade launchers in the outskirts of Popasna, in Novotoshkivske and Krymske. The ceasefire held in Stanytsia Luhanska district yesterday.

In Donetsk sector Kamianka-Avdiivka-Shakhta Butovka frontline was the epicenter of combat. Militants opened fire six times from machine guns and grenade launchers there. “The enemy used 82-mm and 120-mm mortars and various grenade launchers in one of the attacks at Kamianka. Another attack with grenade launchers occurred in Verkhniotoretske, and hostile sniper groups were shooting at Nevelske,” said Col. Lysenko. The ceasefire held in the vicinity of Svitlodarsk area yesterday.

In Mariupol sector hostilities continued between 18:00 and midnight. “Russian proxies conducted two brief mortar attacks in Pavlopil and Shyrokyne. Moreover, the enemy shot from light weapons five more times at Ukrainian troops’ position near the above-mentioned inhabited localities,” said the spokesman. The ceasefire held in other frontline areas yesterday.
