Ministry of Defense: A relatively calm day in ATO zone

Yesterday, the ceasefire held in Luhansk sector, reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

Low-intensity hostilities were recorded along the entire frontline in Donetsk sector, expect for the Donetsk airport.  “A mortar attack took place in Avdiivka. Ukrainian troops also recorded a series of small arms incidents during the entire day. Moreover, Russian proxies violated the ceasefire in Svitlodarsk area and in three positions near Horlivka,” said Col. Motuzyanyk.  In total, Russia-backed militants conducted 10 attacks in this sector.

In Mariupol sector, militants were the most active in Vodiane.  Russian proxies violated the ceasefire day and night using small weapons. “Moreover, the enemy violated the ceasefire in Bohdanivka, Hnutove, and Lebedynske.  In total, 11 hostile attacks took place in this sector yesterday,” reported the spokesman.

Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no casualties yesterday.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, militants lost nine people dead and 17 wounded. At the same time, intelligence informs that militants continue conducting an exercise in the temporarily occupied territory, conduct active aerial reconnaissance and continue receiving supply from Russia.  “Three railroad echelons arrived in the occupied Donbas last week. They carried five tanks and 25 fuel tanks for hostile military equipment,” emphasized Col. Motuzyanyk.
