The situation in the ATO zone remains restless. “Yesterday, Russian proxies violated the ceasefire 26 times and continued using Minsk-proscribed weapons. Ukrainian troops responded with fire,” reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Andriy Lysenko at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

In Luhansk sector, militants attacked Ukrainian positions with aimed fire 14 times. “Hostile infantry fighting vehicles attacked the defenders of Novoluhanske and Popasna. Moreover, the enemy fired twelve 122-mm mortar rounds at the approaches of Krymske and Novooleksandrivka in the afternoon,” said Col. Lysenko. In addition, Russia-backed militants used 82-mm mortars in Novotoshkivske, Zaitseve, and Krymske areas at night firing a total of 20 rounds.

In Mariupol sector, Russia-backed militants attacked ATO troops’ positions 12 times.  They were the most active near Vodiane.  “The enemy attacked Ukrainian positions with grenade launchers and machine guns five times  and opened small arms fire against defenders of Krasnohorivka during the day, and attacked Starohnativka after 19:00. Ukrainian troops returned fire,” said the spokesman.

The ceasefire held in Donetsk sector yesterday.

No Ukrainian serviceman was killed in action yesterday, but one soldier sustained injuries near Novozvanivka. “The soldier was promptly evacuated to a mobile military hospital in Sievierodonetsk. His medical condition is satisfactory,” said Col. Lysenko.
