ATO spokesman: In the last day terrorists fired 115 times at Ukrainian military positions and peaceful localities

Kyiv, 26 January 2015 – “Over the night the enemy continued firing at Ukrainian military positions. Biggest number of shelling times has been noted at the Luhansk direction, in particular at Stanytsia Luhanska: terrorists fired upon the locality 7 times with artillery as well as once with Grad multiple rocket launchers and once with tanks. Verkhnya Olkhova came under enemy’s artillery, mortars and small arms fire three times. Novotoshkivka, Petrivka, Tryokhizbenka, Slovianoserbsk and Frunze also came under fire. In the last day terrorists fired at Ukrainian military and peaceful localities a total of 115 times,” informed Leonyd Matyukhin, ATO spokesman via Skype at a briefing at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center. At the Donetsk direction Novomykhailivka, Opytne and Tonenke were shelled with Grad multiple rocket launchers, Maryinka was fired upon four times from mortars and small arms, Krasnohorivka came under fire once.

In the area of Pervomaysk and Debaltseve criminal groups shelled twice with Grad MRLS Popasna and Troyiotske as well as Debaltseve, Novohorodske and Luhanske. Militants were firing from mortars and artillery at localities Popasna, Bulavinske, Olenivka, Mayorsk, Olenivka, Vuhlehirsk, Rozsadky, twice at Troyitske, Ridkodub, Chornukhyne. “At 18.05 near Mayorsk criminal groups made an attempt to storm Ukrainian positions from Horlivka side. The attack was repelled, those terrorists who survived stepped back. At the Mariupol direction from 19.00 till 19.30 artillery shelling occurred two times in the area of Orlovske locality.

According to Vladyslav Seleznyov, acting spokesman for the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces the threat of terrorist acts and subversions remains high in the big cities – regional centers including first of all Kyiv, Odesa, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine. “In the last day 7 Ukrainian servicemen got killed in action, 24 were wounded. 309 servicemen are being currently treated in hospitals and medical institutions including 19 heavily injured,” added Vladyslav Seleznyov.
