ATO Staff spokesman: Militants fire at Ukrainian positions 22 times using heavy weapons

Kyiv, April 28, 2015. Pro-Russian militant groups fired at the Ukrainian military positions on the frontline 22 times from 6 pm until midnight on April 28. They have used the heavy artillery and Grad multiple rocket launchers to attack peaceful settlements as well, said Lieutenant Colonel Serhiy Danylenko, ATO Staff spokesman, at the press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

According to Lt. Col. Danylenko, militants opened fire at the Ukrainian troops in the area of Avdiivka from Grad multiple rocket launchers, as well as launched a set of Grad rockets at Novolaspa town, Donetsk region, at 9 pm. “Militants shelled our positions near Pisky and Opytne twice from 120-mm mortars as well as once fired at those based near Avdiivka, Chermalyk and not far from Shchastya. They have also fired twice from the heavy artillery at the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Avdiivka and once attacked positions each not far from Opytne and Chermalyk,” Lt. Col. Danylenko added.
