Andriy Lysenko: No Ukrainian troops died or wounded in the past 24 hours. Militants’ use of light arms registered

Kyiv, October 11, 2015. “No Ukrainian troops died or were wounded in combat. The pro-Russian militants were shooting from light arms near Berdianske towards our stronghold. Ukrainian troops did not return the fire. Ukrainian border guards also observed a flight of a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle near Mariupol,” said spokesperson of Administration of the President of Ukraine on ATO related issues Colonel Lysenko at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

According to Col. Lysenko, information and psychological war against Ukraine continues. “Russia-backed militants use Russian propaganda media to disseminate false messages accusing Ukrainian Armed Forces of ceasefire violation. Instead, the ATO troops absolutely comply with the Minsk Accords and maintain armistice at the frontline,” emphasized the spokesperson.

Ukrainian law enforcement officers found a cache with explosives and seized two improvised explosive devices from it. Accroding to Col. Lysenko, identity of the explosive timing devices is being established. Moreover, Ukraine’s Security Service continues implementing a program of returning citizens who had voluntarily left pro-Russian militant groups to the territory controlled by Ukraine.

“An inhabitant of Donetsk region was keeping watch at militants’ checkpoints and guarded headquarters of self-proclaimed ‘Donetsk People’s Republic’ last summer. He voluntarily made a statement on his involvement with the pro-Russian militant groups, confessed his guilt and agreed to assist the investigation. It may become the ground for releasing the man from criminal responsibility in future,” said Col. Lysenko.
