Kyiv, February 15, 2016. American border control systems have arrived at customs and will start operating at the Ukrainian border in the nearest time. They are set to provide border surveillance as well as are enhanced with the information exchange system. These technologies are automated and allow avoiding the human factor. They also enable creating rapid response units that would respond to possible challenges. Installation of the systems has started. The project starts from Ukraine’s sea border, said Roman Romanov, General Director of Ukroboronprom state-owned company speaking at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

According to Loretta Sanchez, member of the U.S. House of Representatives who is dealing with this issue in the U.S., Washington highly estimates capacities of Ukrainian professionals to quickly adjust the U.S. technologies and be developing their own based on them. The U.S. will thus be emphasizing training as well as sharing experience and technologies with Ukraine. “I would like to reassure everybody that there are many of us in Congress who are keeping an eye and working towards helping Ukraine and the rest of Europe to ensure that the aggressive posture that we have seen from Mr. Putin does not go unchecked,“ emphasized Sanchez.

According to Romanov cooperation with the U.S. over the project foresees three stages: supply of the ready-to-operate systems and their assembling in Ukraine by Ukroboronprom professionals, passing technologies to the Ukrainian side and production of the systems by Ukrainian companies. Ukroboronprom’s production capacities in Khmelnitsky, Ternopil and Kyiv will be utilized. “We have never transferred our technologies before. However we have identified not only potential but a partner here. I have worked in many countries that have a more setup system and under peaceful conditions. In Ukraine we met a truly unique professional level,” said Ihor Pasternak, founder of AEROS company.
