Kyiv, September 28, 2016. Hromadske Radio starts broadcasting in Mariupol. This was reported by Kyrylo Lukerenko, Chief Editor of Hromadske Radio, at a briefing held at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. According to him, the radio can be heard at 89,1FM frequency. “You can listen to us over ordinary FM-receivers in cars, at home via phones, in any place where you can find FM. Now we are working in a testing mode. In a few weeks we will fix all the flaws,” said Mr. Lukerenko.

“Broadcasting in Donetsk and Luhansk regions is our priority. We have already purchased a transmitter that was to be located in another city, but is working in Mariupol now. Altogether, we have 10 transmitters in Donbas. We plan to continue growing,” said Kyrylo Lukerenko.

Iryna Slavinska, editor of the program “Hromadska Khvylya” (Civil Wave- eng.), said that they plan to open news offices in Mariupol, Kramatorsk and Severodonetsk to conduct live broadcasts. Currently, they are looking for funding. “We pay much attention to regional developments, so we expect journalists to offer ideas of materials which are worth working on,” said Ms. Slavinska.

Petro Koshukov, Hromadske Radio development director, added that they would begin broadcasting in Dnipro in a few weeks, and prepare their own mobile app.

Media expert Tetyana Popova noted that Mariupol still has a free frequency and a free transmitter that is 40 times as powerful. It could be given to “Army FM” free of charge.
