The Opening of exhibition “Ornamental DNA” in Ankara

The “Ornamental DNA” opening ceremony will take place on October, 6 at 7 pm at the CerModern Arts Center in Ankara (Ankara, Altınsoy Cad. No: 3 06101 Sıhhıye).

In a metaphorical way, this Ukraine-Turkey art project presents ornaments of two countries. Filled with interactive exhibits the exposition displays folk artworks in modern and original form, explaining their meaning. The exhibition has three halls. Ukrainian hall “Hope” displays rushnyky – Ukrainian traditional embroidered cloth – from different regions of Ukraine. Turkish hall “Way” is decorated with traditional Turkish carpets. The third hall has the shape of black cube. It is interactive and meditative at the same time.

The exhibition is organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Turkey and CerModern Arts Center with the support of Ukraine Crisis Media Center as a part of cultural diplomacy project. The exhibition was created by Les Voronyuk, Taras and Iryna Demkury, Larysa Pilyugina, Yaryna Vynnytska, Art-platform “Kovcheg Ukraine”, Patoka Studio, “Kurbasy” band, rugs collector and owner of Hilmi’s Rug Store Helmi Demirdzhi. The exhibition curator is Olesya Draskaba.

The exhibition will feature lectures, discussions, presentations, and workshops. You can visit the exhibition until October 15.
