Ministry of Defense: Militants violate ceasefire 3 times, use mortars

Russia-backed militants committed three ceasefire violations in the ATO zone yesterday, using among other weapons 120-mm and 82-mm mortars. Ukrainian troops did not return fire, reported Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO, at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

Luhansk sector was peaceful for most of the day. At 23:00 Russian proxies attacked Ukrainian positions near Luhanske with 120-mm mortar and large-caliber machine gun, having fired 10 mortar rounds.

In Donetsk sector, the militants delievered two precision attacks against Ukrainian strongholds: at 6:30 and 12:00. “Ukrainian troops’ positions near Shakhta Butivka came under the hostile fire of small arms and 82-mm mortars. The militants fired 6 mortar rounds here”, elaborated Col. Oleksandr Motuzyanyk.

Unfortunately, one Ukrainian serviceman was wounded in action near Shakhta Butivka.
