Colonel Andriy Lysenko: Two out of five unmanned aerial vehicles observed by military intelligence were launched from the territory of Russia

Kyiv, June 10, 2016. Militants continue using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to reconnoiter ATO troops’ positions.  “According to military intelligence, five reconnaissance flights of hostile UAVs took place in all the sectors yesterday. Two of these were launched from the territory of Russia,” informed spokesman of the Presidential Administration on ATO related issues Colonel Andriy Lysenko at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

According to the Chief Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Russia-backed militants’ groups received another batch of reinforcement from Russia. Four “Ural” trucks carrying manpower proceeded through “Izvaryne” checkpoint in Luhansk region yesterday. Six carriages with ammunition and two fuel tanks arrived at Ilovaisk railway station.

Militants’ attacks of various intensity continue in all sectors, the most intense fighting takes place in the Donetsk sector. “Militants keep following the tactics of shooting mostly at nighttime. Occupants are using heavy armor: five mortar attacks conducted by militants took place in Troitske, at the Svitlodarsk bulge and on distant approaches to Donetsk,” said the spokesman. “The most intense hostilities continue in Avdiivka – Putylivska coal mine – Nevelske. “Ukrainian troops repeatedly responded with fire. In total, 14 hostile attacks took place in the Donetsk sector yesterday,” added Col. Lysenko.

Militants conducted three brief attacks in the Luhansk sector yesterday. Militants used 152-mm cannons near Novotroitske in the Mariupol sector again.  Nine of them involved use of heavy armor, mortar launchers and cannons,” said the spokesman.

Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no losses in combat yesterday, four troops were wounded.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, two militants from “11th separate motorized rifle regiment” (Makiivka) died and three were wounded as a result of KAMAZ truck having triggered a mine in their own mine field. Two militants died and four were wounded in two other subdivisions, so-called “3rd brigade” and “9th regiment”. They were engaged as members of subversive reconnaissance groups. “Corpses of 17 killed militants from Avdiivka industrial area were admitted to morgue at Khartsyzk hospital two days before,” added Col. Lysenko.
