The situation in the ATO zone remained restless yesterday. No Ukrainian serviceman died in action yesterday, but two troops were wounded. Most incidents of ceasefire violations took place in Luhansk sector. “It was in this sector that militants were most active in using heavy weapons. The total number of mortar shells and projectiles militants fired at our positions exceeded 200,” informed Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO related issues Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

The largest number of attacks happened in Krymske. Russian proxies conducted a mortar attack after the noon, launching 60 mortar shells at Ukrainian positions in 30 minutes. In an hour militants fired 30 rounds from barrel artillery and opened fire from heavy arms three times before sunset. Eight violations of ceasefire happened in Popasna district, and seven of them involved mortars. Nevertheless, these attacks were less intense. Russian proxies were shooting from light weapons near Shchastia and Stanytsia Luhanska. In total, 27 hostile attacks occurred in Luhansk sector, and 14 involved heavy weapons.

Militants violated the ceasefire eight times in Donetsk sector. They used only light weapons near Avdiivka. In total, attacks lasted around three hours in Kamianka-Avdiivka-Shakhta Butovka position. Militants fired eight mortar shells at Ukrainian positions in Zaitseve before the sunset and opened fire from light weapons around midnight in Pisky.

In Mariupol sector militants conducted 13 attacks, using heavy weapons four times. “Russia-backed militant groups conducted artillery attacks in Vodiane and Shyrokyne at dawn. Following this, the ceasefire held in the frontline during 13 hours. Militants violated it at 20:00 with volleys of automatic gunfire at ATO troops in Shyrokyne. Later hostile attacks occurred in Pavlopil, Hnutove, Talakivka and Lebedynske,” said Col. Motuzyanyk. Russian proxies used mortars in Talakivka and Lebedynske and opened fire from grenade launchers and small arms in Novotroitske and Bohdanovka. The ceasefire held in Maryinka district.
