One Ukrainian serviceman was killed in militants’ attack near Vodiane. Three other troops were wounded in militants’ attacks at Kriakivka, Novooleksandrivka, and Shyrokyne.

In Donetsk sector militants actively used mortars in Kamianka-Avdiivka-Shakhta Butovka frontline between 19:00 and 23:00. The situation was the most restless near Avdiivka. “Russia-backed militants were actively using mortars, grenade launchers, and small arms. The enemy fired 85 mortar rounds of various caliber at Ukrainian troops’ positions near the town,” said Col. Lysenko. A similar situation took place in Kamianka and Shakhta Butovka position, where militants fired around 40 mortar rounds. Ukrainian troops responded with fire. “In addition, militants conducted a brief attack with APC mounted weapons at Luhanske,” added the spokesman.

In Luhansk sector, most attacks took place in Troitske-Novotoshkivske frontline. “Militants started shooting with grenade launchers and mortars at Novozvanivka just after midnight. Following this, the ceasefire held in the entire contact line till 15:00, when the enemy started mortaring Troitske,” elaborated Col. Lysenko.  Militants’ fire was the most intense between 21:00 and 00:00 when militants conducted two mortar attacks in Novotoshkivske and Novozvanivka. They also actively used APC mounted weapons at Zolote and Novooleksandrivka, and grenade launchers in Shchastia.

In Mariupol sector, militants started shelling Ukrainian position near Maryinka about 04:00. “Operations command made an on-the-spot decision to return fire,” said Col. Lysenko. One unit of Ukrainian weapons misfired and exploded. As a result, Ukrainian troops incurred losses. The investigation regarding the incident was launched immediately. “Militants resumed attacks at Ukrainian positions in the afternoon.  The enemy conducted three brief mortar attacks in Krasnohorivka, Talakivka and Shyrokyne,” informed the spokesman. Moreover, Russian proxies opened fire from APC weapons at Chermalyk three times. Militants also attacked other Ukrainian positions in Pavlopil-Shyrokyne frontline with light weapons.
