Ministry of Defense: Russia-backed militants fire about forty 120-mm and 82-mm mortar rounds in eastern Ukraine

Russia-backed militants committed ten ceasefire violations in the ATO zone yesterday. They used 120-mm and 82-mm mortars, having fired 40 mortar rounds. Ukrainian troops returned fire five times using weapons not proscribed under the Minsk agreements, reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Dmytro Hutsulyak at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

In Luhansk sector, the militants delivered seven precision attacks against Ukrainian strongholds. Starting 20:00, militants attacked Ukrainian positions near Troitske with 120-mm mortars, IFV, ZU-23-2 antiaircraft gun. and grenade launchers. The enemy fired nine 120-mm mortar rounds here.

Moreover, Russian proxies attacked Ukrainian troops near Luhanske with 82-mm mortars having fired seven mortar rounds. “The enemy attacked Ukrainian positions near Katerynivka, Luhanske, Troitske, and Stanytsia Luhanska with heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, and small arms”, elaborated Col. Dmytro Hutsulyak.

In Donetsk sector, Russia-backed militants delivered three precision attacks. Yesterday in the morning militants attacked Ukrainian troops near Vodiane with 120-mm mortars having fired 15 mortar rounds here. The attack continued for one hour.  In the evening militants delivered an attack in Shyrokyne area using 120-mm mortars. In Avdiivka area, Russian proxies used grenade launchers, machine guns, and small arms. Ukrainian troops returned fire using grenade launchers and small arms.

Unfortunately, two Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in action in Troitske and Katerynivka areas yesterday.
