Ministry of Defense: Russian proxies violate the ceasefire 32 times

Over the first day of the Easter ceasefire that came into force on midnight of March 30, Russia-backed militants delivered 32 attacks against Ukrainian troops’ positions, reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman Colonel Dmytro Hutsulyak at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

In Donetsk sector, the militants committed 29 ceasefire violations, 25 of these were precision attacks. Right after midnight, Russian proxies attacked Ukrainian positions near Avdiivka and Opytne with small arms. Starting 9:00 and over the following hour the enemy fired twelve 82-mm mortar rounds, employed antitank missiles and grenade launchers in Talakivka area.

Russia-backed militants attacked Ukrainian troops’ positions near Avdiivka, Bohdanivka, Verhniotoretske, Vodiane, Kamianka, Katerynivka, Lebedynske, Luhanske, Opytne, Novotroitske, Pavlopil, Pisky, Pishchevyk, Shyrokyne, and Shakhta Butivka with grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms.

“Moreover, yesterday in the morning, Ukrainian troops’ positions near Vodiane came under the hostile fire of ZU-23-2 antiaircraft mount, hostile snipers were spotted near Pavlopil and Lebedynske,” noted Colonel Hutsulyak.

In Luhansk sector, Russian proxies committed tree precision attacks. Between 20:00 and 23:00, the militants shelled Ukrainian positions with grenade launchers and heavy machine guns in Katerynivka area, and twice – near Luhanske.

Unfortunately, one Ukrainian serviceman was wounded in action yesterday.  Moreover, one Ukrainian troop was killed and three more – wounded resulting from an explosion of an unidentified explosive device.
