Kyiv, April 15, 2015. A detailed chronology of attacks with geography and dynamics of the conflict’s major areas of confrontation is now available on the Ukraine Crisis Media Center website https://uacrisis.org/ato/. Nazariy Polishchuk, author of the map, said he is eager to help everyone interested to know the detailed dynamics of Russia-backed militant attacks at the Ukrainian troops. “This map shows not only average statistics and the number of attacks per day, but also the type of weapons the enemy used most frequently on a particular day,” Mr. Polishchuk said at the press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

The project was jointly developed by Ukraine Crisis Media Center and Ukraine Under Attack website. The map is updated daily based on the latest monitoring provided by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. “We can see that the current hotspots of the conflict include the northern areas of Donetsk as well as Shyrokyne village and military block posts close to Mariupol. The number of militant attacks has relatively increased on April 12-13. Mortars and grenade launchers have been most widely used types of weapons lately,” Nazariy Polishchuk explained.

The interactive map also provides detailed report on time and location of military action, statistics about the militants’ use of different kinds of weapons, and the number of ceasefire violations. “Currently the infographics covers time span between March 29 until April 13, 2015. Most recent updates will be posted shortly. We are planning to increase the scope of the map and provide latest information on an hourly basis,” Nazariy Polishchuk noted.
