Colonel Motuzyanyk: Hostile shelling damages four residential buildings and a gas pipeline in Vynohradne

“Four residential buildings and a gas pipeline were damaged in Vynohradne settlement yesterday night as a result of militants’ shelling, cutting about 600 houses off gas suppy,” informed Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on ATO related issues at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. A series of intense mortar attack at Ukrainian positions took place in Krasnohorivka, Hnutove and Shyrokyne in the Mariupol sector. Moreover, Russia-backed militants used mortar launchers in Taramchuk and Talakivka. Almost 200 mortar shells were launched at Ukrainian positions. In total, militants conducted 26 attacks in the Mariupol sector yesterday, and 12 of them involved use of heavy armor.

The situation was restless in the Luhansk sector. Krymske was the main flashpoint yesterday. Militants started shooting from mortar launchers in the morning, adding cannons later. “After 10 p.m. militants launched full ammunition load at Ukrainian positions – 30 rocket missiles from Grad multiple rocket launcher system and 25 artillery shells. Hostile fire below 100 mm caliber was delivered from Sokilnyky village and above 100 mm – from the occupied Slovianoserbsk,” said the spokesman. Moreover, the situation on Stanytsia Luhanska is extremely restless. One, but very powerful and lengthy militants’ attack took place there yesterday. It continued four hours non-stop. “In addition to light weapons, occupants used mortar launchers and armor,” added Col. Motuzyanyk. A firefight took place between Ukrainian troops and militants yesterday in Novozvanivka, and it lasted 30 minutes. Ukrainian troops defeated the attack, incurring no losses. In total, one firefight and 12 militants’ attacks took place in the Luhansk sector yesterday, eight of them involved use of heavy weapons.

Main hostilities in the Donetsk sector took place in the Avdiivka industrial area. Number of launched mortar shells went beyond 80. “Moreover, occupants violated the ceasefire in Troiske, where militants also used mortar launchers and armor, and in Novhorodske. Both attacks were long-lasting,” said the spokesman. In total, eight militants’ attacks took place in the Donetsk sector yesterday, and five of them involved use of heavy weapons.

Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no casualties in combat in the last 24 hours, and one serviceman was wounded.
