Ministry of Defense: Militants hit Maryinka’s residential quarters, two civilians wounded

Russia-backed militants shelled Maryinka area with mortars four times yesterday. The third shelling hit Maryinka’s residential quarters around 16:00, wounding two civilians. The casualties were taken to hospital in Kurakhovo, informed Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Andriy Lysenko at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

Russian proxies used mortars in Chermalyk as well, firing over 30 rounds. Active hostilities also took place in Hnutove and Vodiane. Moreover, militants violated the ceasefire in Novotroitske. “In total, 25 hostile attacks took place in Mariupol sector yesterday. Ukrainian troops responded with fire at least 10 times,” summarized Col. Lysenko.

In Luhansk sector militants violated the ceasefire 14 times. These were small arms attacks mostly in Popasna district. Russian proxies violated the ceasefire in Stanytsia Luhanska district and in Krymske, and used armor once.

In Donetsk sector militants were active in Donetsk airport. “Two hostile attacks took place in Opytne, in the morning and in the evening. Russian proxies used mortars in Pisky twice, firing 30 rounds,” said the spokesman. Militants shelled Kamianka-Avdiivka-Shakhta Butovka frontline with heavy weaponry during the day. Moreover, they violated the ceasefire in Zaitseve and Maiorsk. In total, pro-Russian troops attacked 14 times in Donetsk sector yesterday.

Two Ukrainian servicemen were killed in action yesterday, five more were wounded.
