Ministry of Defense: Russia-backed militants use Minsk-proscribed weapons, kill four Ukrainian servicemen and wound two more.

Russian proxies committed 28 ceasefire violations in eastern Ukraine yesterday. The enemy used Minsk-proscribed weapons, fired a total of 107 mortar rounds. Ukrainian troops returned fire 16 times using small arms and light weapons, reported Col. Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, Ministry of Defense of Ukraine spokesperson on ATO-related issues at a briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

In Luhansk sector, militants attacked Ukrainian positions 19 times. “For almost two hours, Russian proxies were shelling Ukrainian troops in Travneve area with Minsk-proscribed 120-mm, firing a total of 60 rounds They also used infantry fighting vehicles, grenade launchers, and small arms. Moreover, the enemy used 82-mm mortars in Krymske, Luhanske, Katerynivka, and Novooleksandrivka areas.”, Col. Oleksandr Motuzyanyk said.

In Donetsk sector, militants delivered nine precision attacks on Ukrainian positions. In Avdiivka, they fired twelve 120-mm mortar rounds and used grenade launchers and small arms. “The enemy employed 120-mm and 82-mm mortars near Opytne, Vodiane, and Shakhta Butovka. In Kamianka and Pisky areas, the enemy used infantry fighting vehicles, rocket launchers, and small arms. At the same time, hostile sniper attacked Ukrainian positions in Kamianka”, Colonel Motuzyanyk added.

Unfortunately, four Ukrainian servicemen were killed in action near Vodiane, Kamianka, and Travneve. Two more troops were wounded.
