Oleksandr Motuzyanyk: Militants keep firing at ATO forces using 120-mm mortars, 122-mm artillery and Grad multiple rocket launchers

Kyiv, June 7, 2015 – Situation in ATO zone remains tense. Russia-backed militants shelled the ATO forces with 120-mm mortars nine times, 122-mm artillery five times and Grad multiple rocket launchers in the area of Hranitne (Donetsk Region) five times, said Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, spokesman of the Administration of the President of Ukraine on the issues connected with the ATO.

In the Luhansk area where the lowest intensity of militant assaults is observed, militants fired at the Ukrainian positions near Shchastia, Stanytsia Luhanska and on Bakhmutska road. In the Mariupol sector militants violated ceasefire near Shyrokyne six times. Western and Northern outskirts of Horlivka, the area of the Donetsk airport, Maryinka and the area of Hranitne were epicenters of offenses in the Donetsk area. “Militant groups used mortars, grenade launchers, artillery, multiple rocket launchers and small arms,” specified Colonel Motyzyanyk.

Ukrainian Armed Forces did not experience any casualties on 6th of June however eight servicemen were wounded in action. 38 UAV flights were registered in Donetsk and Luhansk region by the Ukrainian border guards and army servicemen.

The counter-intelligence agency of the Ukrainian Security Service detained commander of the subversive group of “DPR” nicknamed “Sahara”. It became clear that the detainee has undergone special training in a camp in Rostov-on-Don six months ago. Militant guided by the Russian leader nicknamed “Khan” was training rebels on the occupied territories and collecting information on the number, deployment sites and movements of Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Zaporizhia regions developing detailed “instructions” for terrorists.
