As the preparations to the Eurovision Song Contest advance in Ukraine’s capital, the documentary on Jamala, whose victory in last year’s competition brought this year’s edition to Kyiv, is released on the big screen. The film comes with English subtitles.

“Jamala.UA” documentary is directed by Ukrainian Anna Akulevych. Work over the film was started before it became known who would represent Ukraine at the Eurovision 2016 in Stockholm. The film embraces the period from the start of preparations to the song contest until a few weeks after the event, when Jamala returns home with the victory. Check the trailer.

The movie lifts the veil off the usual on-stage and TV image of the star, showing a person with a strong character and principles, doubts and dissatisfaction with herself, weaknesses and tenderness, but always devoted to music, describes the spirit of the film the Crimean News Agency.

“Jamala.UA” will be screened with English subtitles in Kyiv cinema (19 Velyka Vasylkivska) through May 5-10. Tickets are available at the cinema’s web site.
