Ministry of Defense: Russia-backed militants use 120-mm and 82-mm mortars

Over the last day, Russian proxies violated the ceasefire 38 times and used 120-mm mortars in some of the attacks, reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman Colonel Dmytro Hutsulyak at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

In Luhansk sector, the enemy delivered six precision attacks, four of these were in Luhanske area. “The enemy fired four 120-mm mortar rounds near Luhanske between 15:00-15:30, used grenade launchers and heavy machine guns there as well,” elaborated Colonel Hutsulyak. Moreover, between 18:00-19:00, militants fired ten 82-mm mortar rounds in Troitske area. After 21:00, Ukrainian positions near Stanytsia Lunahanska came under hostile small arms fire.

In Donetsk sector, Russia-backed militants committed 32 ceasefire violations, 30 of these were precision attacks. Russian proxies used 82-mm mortars in Avdiivka, Pisky, Shyrokyne, and Shakhta Butovka areas. “The enemy actively used grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms near Vodiane, Pavlopil, Avdiivka, and Shakhta Butivka,” Ministry of Defense spokesman said. Hostile attacks were also recorded near Opytne, Starohnativka, Talakivka, Kamianka, Verhniotoretske, and Hnutove. A hostile sniper was spotted near Pavlopil.

Fortunately, Ukrainian troops incurred no casualties yesterday.
