Volodymyr Polevyi: Within the past day 3 Ukrainian servicemen got wounded

Kyiv, December 20 2014, – Pro-Russian militants are continuing provocations in the ATO area. Numerous instances of the “silence” regime violation by illegal paramilitary units were registered. Ukrainian armed forces sustained no casualties, however, two servicemen were injured.  Deputy Chief of the NSDC Information and Analytical Center Volodymyr Polevyi informed about this during the press briefing in the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center. Terrorists have twice started the fire from grenade launchers and handguns towards the positions of Ukrainian armed forces at Donetsk airport territory. The militants were also firing at the ATO defensive posts near Pisky, Nikishine, Debaltseve, Mayorsk, Chermalyk settlements. Near Olkhovatka village of Artemivsk district Ukrainian armed forces positions were shelled with Grad multiple rocket launcher systems.  

In Luhansk oblast near Chornukhine village of Popasna district the militants three times opened mortar and sniper riflefire at Ukrainian defensive position. The checkpoint of the National Guard near Krymske village was shelled by artillery and mortars. The militants attacked the  positions near Shchastya, Sokilnyky and Frunze with mortar and handguns fire.

Yesterday at  8.40 p.m. 6 trucks bearing white flags and Russian state flags headed towards the territory of Ukrainethrough Izvarino border checkpoint. «The Russian side did not inform the representatives of Ukrainian interdepartmentarygroup about the passing of this convoy, explaining that the cargo is not a humanitarian one.  In their turn, the RussianFederation representatives affirmed that another so-called “humanitarian convoy” will be dispatched to Ukraine on December 21. Ukrainian interdepartmentary group is ready to take part in customs clearance of this cargo, if the RF comolies with all the requirements of international and Ukrainian law», NSDC IAC representative explained.

Meanwhile, yesterday the humanitarian cargo under the aegis of ICRC was allowed to enter Donetsk from the territory ofUkraine in order to provide aid to the oblast residents. It comprised 4 trucks from the Ukrainian IRCR office transporting about 46 tons of food.
