Andriy Lysenko: Situation is the most difficult near Horlivka,militants use mortar launchers three times

Kyiv, February 27, 2016. Militants violated the ceasefire in the ATO zone in the Luhansk sector once. It happened in the Bakhmutivska road close to Novotoshkivske. ATO troops responded with fire. In the Donetsk sector the situation is the most difficult in Horlivka agglomerate where Russia-backed militants used mortar launcher three times. The situation at the Svitlodarsk bulge slightly escalated, in particular in Luhanske village. Attacks with fire continue in the vicinity of the Donetsk airport. In the Mariupol sector militants were shooting and instigating provocations in Mariinka. “Militants used small arms and grenade launchers, as well as sniping fire. Moreover, several hostile attacks took place southwards, near Dokuchaievsk,” said Colonel Lysenko, spokesman of Presidential Administration on ATO-related issues at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

According to the spokesman, Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no casualties in combat yesterday.
Col. Lysenko also informed that Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) detained a servicewoman who was working for Russian special services. She was providing information regarding Ukrainian Armed Forces’ positions, plans of defense operations, communication plans, statutory data, nom de guerre and telephone numbers of Ukrainian troops to her ‘supervisors’. Moreover, the SBU detained subverters in Luhansk region who blasted a bridge connecting Severodonetsk and Luhansk in May 2014. “SBU officers seized a self-made explosive device, a grenade with a fuse, 60 cartridges of various calibers and mountaineering equipment during search,” added Col. Lysenko.

The spokesman said that law enforcements found huge ‘weaponry’ which criminals tried to transport from the ATO zone to Kyiv region. Besides that, the officer seized BPM-2 armored personnel carrier with weapons, 85 kg of explosives, tens of thousands of cartridges of various calibers, launching system, seven guided missiles, 29 anti-tank mines, twelve anti-personnel mines, 480 VOG-17 grenades for automatic grenade launcher and almost 100 shells for RPG-7 grenade launcher.
