Kyiv, 25 June 2014 – “In the past three days, pro-Russian terrorists have broken the Peace Plan 45 times. The President’s Peace Plan stipulates implementation of ceasefire from both sides”, reported Vladyslav Selezniov, the official spokesman for the anti-terrorist operation, from the ground during a phone briefing at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center. In particular, in the past 24 hours, the militants flared up the fire seven times. The situation with the implementation of the Peace Plan in eastern Ukraine remains extremely challenging, however ATO forces have kept respecting ceasefire regime. At the same time, militants started the fire on defence checkpoints and columns of Ukrainian military equipment.

Commenting on the militants’ actions, Selezniov stated: “In case there is fire from the militants side, ATO forces are allowed to use their weapons in response. If militants start the fire at the points that are not located in the cultural and social institutions, places of workship or places inhabited by civilians, then ATO forces will be allowed to conduct the fire. In all other cases, they have no right to use their weapons”.

Vladyslaw Selezniov also said that there are on-going fires on the border protection line. In his view, this is an indication that these spots are a big obstacle to the free movement of militants across the border and moving ammunition to Ukraine.
