Ministry of Defense of Ukraine: It is planned to increase the funding of medical support of the Armed Forces

Four military mobile hospitals have been deployed at the forefront.  A new center for training the military units, NATO standards 2020, will be created in Lviv region. 

This year, about 353 million UAH are planned to be allocate for the medical support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is more than a third more than last year. 205 million of these funds will be spent for purchasing medicine and 93 million UAH – for purchasing medical equipment. This was informed by Col. Oksana Havryliuk, Ministry of Defense of Ukraine spokesperson, during a briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

Four military mobile hospitals have been deployed at the forefront. “Medical evacuation of wounded from the ambulances of platoons, squadrons and military units to the civilian medical institutions is carried out using medical road and rail transport. Besides, helicopters Mi-8, medical aircraft AN-26 “Vita” and transport aircraft AN-148 are involved in the evacuation,” she informed. Since the beginning of ATO aircraft AN-26 “Vita” has evacuated more than 3450 wounded and sick servicemen. More than 1400 servicemen were evacuated by transport aircraft.

This year, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will ensure medical and sanatorium treatment of more than 3,700 veterans and disabled veterans, and about 10,000 servicemen and their families, as well as rehabilitation of ATO participants.

According to the Minister of Defense, a center for training the military units in accordance with NATO standards 2020 will be created on the military training area of the International Peacekeeping and Security Centre in Lviv region. “This year, nearly 50 million hryvnias have been allocated for improving material and technical resources of the International Peacekeeping and Security Centre,” informed Oksana Havryliuk.
