Ministry of Defense: Militants commit fifty-two ceasefire violations in eastern Ukraine

Over the last day, Russia-backed militants made fifty-two attacks upon the Ukrainian troops’ positions, fifty of them were precision attacks. “The enemy used fourteen 122-mm artillery shells and fired ninety 120-mm and 82-mm mortar rounds. Ukrainian troops had to return fire in 19 cases”, reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman Colonel Maksym Prauta at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

In Luhansk sector, Russian proxies made 11 precision attacks. They fired eighty 120-mm and 82-mm mortar rounds in Zaytseve and Luhanske areas. “Russia-backed militants attacked Ukrainian troops near Luhanske, Troitske and Mayorsk using IFVs, grenade launchers and large caliber machine guns”, elaborated Col. Prauta.

In Donetsk sector, the militants committed forty-one ceasefire violations. Starting from 02:00, during one hour, and at 19:00 Russian proxies attacked Ukrainian positions in Shyrokyne using 122-mm artillery. They fired 14 artillery shells. Moreover, Russia-backed militants attacked Ukrainian troops in Pisky and Shakhta Butivka areas using 82-mm mortars.

“The enemy used grenade launchers, large caliber machine guns and small arms near Pavlopil, Marinka, Vodyane, Shyrokyne, Novomykhailivka, Talakivka, Lebedynske, Kamianka, Hnutove, Avdiivka, Novotroitske, Pisky and Shakhta Butivka”, Col. Prauta said. Russian proxies attacked Ukrainian troops in Novotroitske and Vodyane using IFVs. The enemy used ZU-23-2 near Avdiivka. “Ukrainian troops captured sniper shells in Vodyane, Talakivka, Hnutove and Shakhta Butivka areas”, added Ministry of Defense spokesman.

Unfortunately, two Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in action. One more Ukrainian serviceman was wounded because of a blast on an unknown explosive device.
