Oleh Karapinka has been the youngest village head in Ukraine for two weeks already. He is only 22 years old.
Mariana Masliak (26 years old), Perevozets, Ivano-Frankivsk region
Mariana Masliak headed four villages at 20. She recollects the first sessional meeting with horror. It was very hard to find a common language with deputies. Currently, Mariana Masliak has chosen the following middle ground in communion both with the deputies and with the local inhabitants: to listen to both young people and elders. At the request of the elderly people she gasified the village and provided street lighting; sports grounds were built for the young people.
Ihor Lukashevych (24 years old), Hannusivka, Ivano-Frankivsk region
Instead of becoming a district or regional deputy, Ihor Lukashevych became a village head. He says the locals asked him to do this. There were no competitors, because nobody wanted to set to work. He tried and solved the problem of street lighting as well as repaired the feldsher's station. Besides, he plans to provide the village with sports grounds and a cinema. Lukashevych also wants to install solar panels in the village.
Marian Mykytyn (29 years old), Novosilky, Ivano-Frankivsk region
Marian Mykytyn became a village head at 27. Within two years, he provided the street lighting, waterclosets in the school, and changed the roofing on the People's House. Now he wants to make the village successful. He plans to rent out the land for a wind power plant. He has already found an investor. Besides, the young head invites entrepreneurs to grow great bilberries and raspberries on the village lands.
Olexandr Toporivskyi (27 years old), Blahodatne, Volyn region
Olexandr Toporivskyi is looking for financing for his village everywhere. Thanks to the grants, he managed to provide the village with two sports grounds and a free cinema in the open air, to repair three roads, as well as to light the streets. Besides, the young head introduced the action "Demand a check - help the community" (the excise from the purchase of alcohol and cigarettes contributes to the local budget).
Artem Kukharenko (24 years old), Podilske, Cherkasy region
Two years ago in his 22 he was the youngest village head in the country. Artem Kukharenko sings, but the career of a singer does not prevent him from working on the development of the village. He has already managed to provide the village with street lighting and free Wi-Fi, as well as to repair the school. He says that he has eventually realized that money that is always lacking can be obtained by saving. For example, through mounting energy-saving windows in the school.
