The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine will present its new report, covering the period between 16 February and 15 May 2018.<\/p>\n

The report will be launched with a press conference at the Ukraine Crisis Media Centre, Khreshchatyk Street, 2 (Ukrainian house), Kyiv on<\/strong> Wednesday, 20 June 2018, 11:00am<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The findings of this report are based on 186 in-depth interviews with witnesses and victims of human rights violations and abuses on both sides of the contact line, as well as site visits and trial monitoring. The work on Crimea was done through the offices in Kyiv and Odesa.<\/p>\n

The report provides the data on conflict-related civilian casualties, analysing the sharp rise in numbers of deaths and injuries in April and May. The report describes how the armed conflict not only claims lives, but undermines people\u2019s rights to live in dignity.<\/p>\n

The report also examines cases of unlawful detentions, torture and ill-treatment in the conflict zone and beyond, focusing on the issue of accountability.<\/p>\n

The report will be presented by Ms. Fiona Frazer, Head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The press- conference will be English, with interpretation into Ukrainian as well as sign language interpretation. Copies of the new report and other materials will be made available at the press briefing.<\/p>\n

The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine was deployed to Ukraine in March 2014. It has offices in Kyiv, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kramatorsk, Luhansk<\/em>, Mariupol<\/em> and Odesa, working in the conflict-affected area on both sides of the contact line. <\/em><\/p>\n
