On March 18th, 2022, members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Interparliamentary Cooperation met at the video conference with the German Bundestag’s Foreign Affairs Committee members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukrainian parliamentarians briefed members of the German Bundestag’s Foreign Affairs Committee on the security situation in Ukraine, including war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by russia in Ukraine and the nuclear threat to Europe due to the seizure of the Chornobyl and Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Questions were raised about the European security system and possible joint steps and additional security measures in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People’s deputies of Ukraine informed their German colleagues about the brutal actions of russian service members, the situation with refugees and internally displaced persons as a result of russian military aggression, and the blatant humanitarian situation in some Ukrainian cities, including Mariupol, shelling of humanitarian corridors and kidnappings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the issue of Ukraine’s membership in the European Union and granting candidate status, as well as increasing humanitarian and economic assistance, further joint activities of the two committees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chairman and members of the Committee called on German colleagues to help ensure a no-fly zone and security in the Ukrainian sky, security guarantees for humanitarian corridors, take all possible measures to stop russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, including closing ports for russian commercial vessels, oil and gas embargo, and additional packages of sanctions against the aggressor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
