The number of refugees leaving Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion was 6,500,032. Most Ukrainians went to Poland. Such data are provided by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the latest estimate of the United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM), another 8 million Ukrainian citizens are considered internally displaced, ie they remained in the country but were forced to leave their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the State Border Guard Service, since the beginning of the Russian invasion, more than 7.4 million people have crossed the Ukrainian border in areas with the EU and Moldova in both directions. More than 4.8 million of them left the country. During this time, more than 2.2 million Ukrainian citizens crossed the western border to enter Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past three months, more than 100,000 Ukrainians who fled the Russian war have arrived in Spain. This is evidenced by government data, according to “European Truth” with reference to Euractiv. The vast majority of the nearly 109,000 Ukrainian refugees in Spain have been granted temporary protection status. According to the latest data from the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, 67% of those granted temporary protection status are women and 33% are men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, we see that the migration caused by Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine has created new challenges for the political systems of Ukraine and the EU. What to do with them, how Ukraine and the world react to them, and what are the prospects for the development of migration processes in Europe?
