On the 100th day of war both the Ukrainian and Russian sides rely on artillery in their advance. After the failed operation in the North of Ukraine, the aggressor\u2019s army has improved artillery and aviation support for its troops. They also improved coordination between primary and secondary operations, which lowered the agility of Ukrainian troops. Russia is still capable of shelling any Ukrainian region with long-range cruise missiles from the Black Sea, Belarus and the European part of Russia.

Ukraine has secured thousands of artillery systems and other military hardware from Western partners, with the biggest contribution from the US. HIMARS advanced rocket launchers are on the way, while M777, CAESAR and FH70 howitzer-type systems are already at the frontline. While the systems are being delivered and Ukrainian soldiers are trained to use them, Russia slowly advances using a scorched earth approach. Even though Russia\u2019s losses in artillery are huge, Ukraine\u2019s military falls behind in quantities of artillery and rocket pieces in the field, as well as in terms of munitions at hand.

As soon as this deficit is covered by incoming hardware, Ukraine will be progressively better equipped and more skilled to counteract Russia\u2019s artillery and air strikes. The Ukrainian army will resist the heavyweight Russians flexibly and in asymmetric fashion, trying to strike more accurate blows at the most important targets with high-precision ammunition and use long-range artillery systems. Ukraine will be better equipped with radars, drones and satellite data, which will provide the most up-to-date information on the disposition and movement of Russian troops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
