The positions of the Georgian government and the Georgian people have been different following the start of the Russia-Ukraine full-scale war in February: while thousands of Georgian resolutely marched to the streets to condemn Russian aggression and demand action, the government avoided poking the bear in the eye and limited the response to Russia\u2019s crimes to sending humanitarian aid to Ukraine and accepting refugees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Georgian government and parliament under the control of a pro-Russian oligarch, Georgia stays under the hemisphere of Russia. This explains the disgraceful rhetoric of Georgian representatives towards Ukraine, the refusal to join international anti-Russia sanctions and failing to directly call Russia an agressor and an occupier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Georgians as a nation, on the other hand, do not need to be explained what Russian occupation is. There is a full understanding that Ukrainians are fightning not only for their freedom but also for the future of Georgia without Russian aggression. Georgians support Ukraine and its fight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Georgians as a nation are consolidated in their support of Ukraine fighting Russian aggression. The Georgian government, however, avoids taking direct action against Russia, in particular, by refusing to join international sanctions against the aggressor.
