No Ukrainian will ever forget the morning of February 24. The whole nation lost confidence in its future, and it was the first powerful attack of psychological traumatization in the Russian full-scale war. The effects of this trauma can be observed today: people cannot make long-term plans and build their lives only around today or tomorrow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While there is almost no difference in the psychological trauma inflicted on the military and civilians at the biological level, there\u2019s a crucial difference in the scenarios of receiving psychotrauma, psychologists argue. The soldiers may experience various conditions, from acute stress disorder to delayed-onset PTSD, and each condition has its own very clear diagnostic criteria. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No specialist today knows how long it will take the Ukrainian nation to recover from the trauma. However, the severity of traumatization and the duration of processing collective trauma will depend on the way society itself approaches it. Ukraine will have to create a new self in a challenging process of social therapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
