Despite the fact that Israel and Ukraine have a lot in common \u2013 both nations have been living in a state of permanent war, both have struggled to maintain sovereignty \u2013 the former is seen as rather slow to support the Ukrainian fight against Russian aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the whole civilized world is siding with Ukraine, Israel tries to balance defending its national interests, which includes maintaining agreeable relations with Russia, and supporting the democratic camp, to which Israel sees itself as belonging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, recently, Israel has been showing more and more support for Ukraine thanks to the country\u2019s civil society pressure on the government \u2013 including not only humanitarian help but also some indirect military aid. Israel and Ukraine can learn a lot from each other, and cooperation between the two states will likely increase, especially with the growing involvement of Iran in the Russian aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
