Since the very beginning of Russia\u2019s large-scale invasion of Ukraine, Poland has shown strong solidarity with Ukraine. Over 6 million Ukrainian refugees have crossed the Polish border looking for safety, and over 1, 5 million of them got asylum status in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the Polish government supports Ukraine\u2019s political course for NATO and the EU, citizens of the country are also actively engaged in helping Ukraine. Volunteer initiatives, such as a crowdfunding campaign to buy a Bayraktar combat drone for Ukraine, inspire and motivate both the Ukrainian military and civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine is extremely thankful to its partner. To signal this and reciprocate a similar law approved by Warsaw, the Ukrainian parliament adopted a law on the special status of Poles in Ukraine in July 2022, establishing legal and social guarantees for Polish citizens residing in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The unabating dedication of the central Polish government, local authorities, and civil society in the support of Ukrainian refugees and the Ukrainian nation in the fight against Russian aggression is one of the things that keep Ukraine going in this exhausting war.
