On November, 9, Ukrainians around the world celebrate the Day of Ukrainian Literature and Language. This year, during Russia\u2019s large-scale war against Ukraine, our country is known far beyond its borders, and the interest in our language as culture has increased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russia has been waging a war against Ukraine for eight years and eight months but it has been also waging a war against the Ukrainian language as one of the key markers of national identity. The first thing the aggressor does in the occupied territories is ban the Ukrainian language in schools, destroy libraries, and burning Ukrainian books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Linguicide has long been a part of Russian colonial politics \u2013 but it won’t work in the XXI century. Today, Ukraine is supported by the whole civilized world, and our language unites Ukrainians around the globe. Our language has survived centuries of repression \u2013 and proved it can’t be destroyed, so Ukraine will prevail \u2013 no matter what aggressor plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
