Croatia and Ukraine share the same history and hardships: the nations found themselves in similar historical circumstances after the II World War; both have gone through exiting large formations like the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia. Such a common past has enabled open and intense relations between the states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the start of the Russian war against Ukraine, and especially after the large-scale invasion of February 2022, Croatia\u2019s reaction has been very supportive of Ukraine\u2019s struggle and the defense of its freedom. Croats offered their homes and hospitality to Ukrainians fleeing the horrors of war, while the state launched a couple of state programs for Ukrainian refugees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Croatia supports Ukraine on all levels \u2013 starting from the political one and going down to the average Croats. On the other hand, the penetration of Russian propaganda on the Balcan peninsula, including in Croatia, poses many risks, therefore, certain policies and mechanisms on the state level are necessary to fight Kremlin disinformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
