Mariupol, a hero city that went through hell while being under siege by Russian troops and was almost completely destroyed, will no longer be what it used to be. Russian military occupation, followed by cultural occupation, is further annihilating its identity. The occupiers are taking away Mariupol\u2019s history, its culture and trying to impose their own instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the spirit of the city lives within those who were forced to flee, no matter how scattered its population is across the world now. Those residents are eager to return to their Mariupol, rebuild it and de-occupy it culturally. The process to start building a roadmap to revive the city has to begin now, Petro Andryushchenko, Adviser to the mayor of Mariupol emphasizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The destruction of Mariupol is a tragedy, a deep wound in the heart of every Ukrainian. However, it can also become an opportunity for the people to take the fabric of the city and rebuild it in accordance with their modern values, which will at the same time sew together the community after Mariupol liberation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
