On January 22, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Unity. In 2023, after almost a year of a large-scale war with Russia, the symbolic meaning of this date is especially important to Ukrainians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The history of the holiday started back in 1919, when the Unification Act was signed by the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the West Ukrainian People’s Republic on January 22nd, 1919 in Kyiv. In 1990, this day inspired Ukrainians to create a human chain from the capital Kyiv to the western Ukrainian city of Lviv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, Ukrainians celebrate the Day of Unity amidst the air raid sirens, missile attacks, and obituaries. However, one thing remains unchanged: the solidarity of the Ukrainian people, as well as joint work for our victory \u2014 and this means the light will conquer even the deepest darkness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
