Ukrainian statehood’s history has a long tradition of national liberation struggle. This includes the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, various armed formations of the time of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, the Haidamat movement and, of course, the Cossacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cossacks are one of the most significant periods of the struggle against the colonizers and the most organized format of the Ukrainian army in history. As a result, the Cossacks turned into an archetype of a warrior, which became part of the mythology of most modern formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their contributions helped shape the strong and determined nature of the Ukrainian military, which has proven itself in the face of a Russian invasion in 2022. The role of the Cossacks in Ukrainian history continues to be celebrated and romanticized, symbolizing bravery and independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
