The recent congress of deputies of all levels of Transnistria raised considerable fears about a new round of escalation of the conflict with Russia. There are significant fears about the potential accession of Transnistria to the Russian Federation, that is, the actual annexation of the territory of Moldova.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the period of the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Kremlin tried several times to use the possibility of escalation in the Transnistria region to put pressure on Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine. These efforts remained propaganda fiction because Moscow currently does not have enough resources for a full-fledged annexation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the international community should be ready for any development scenario and not place all the responsibilities for protecting the region on Ukraine. Moreover, it is worth outlining a clear warning for Moscow that there will be severe consequences in the event of a new aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
