The Alfa Special Operations Center of Ukraine\u2019s Security Service struck Russian air defenses near the Kerch Strait as well as the Saky and Hvardiyske air bases in Crimea, the agency said on Wednesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strikes hit four hangars at the Saky air base that store aircraft equipment, the message reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Alfa center also struck two pieces of the S-400 air defense missile system and two Pantsir-S1 air defense missile systems. The unit has struck a total of four Pantsir-S1s in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRussian occupying forces are losing control over the skies of Crimea. Each destroyed air defense system and each air base that was hit open new possibilities for further Ukrainian attacks on the enemy\u2019s military infrastructure. The Security Service of Ukraine will continue systematic work to turn Crimea into a territory of constant losses for the Russian army, until it leaves the Ukrainian peninsula,\u201d the Security Service said.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 17 key oil refining facilities were affected, including 10 largest oil refineries and terminals, leading to a systematic disruption in Russia\u2019s fuel sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine targets vacuum distillation and hydrocracking units. The tactic critically extends recovery of the damaged facilities. Russia\u2019s annual oil refining capacity fell from 280 million tons in 2021 to 168 million tons [the original article does not mention the year \u2013 edit.], the lowest in 16 years. The crisis formed so-called fuel deserts in areas where supply chains fail to balance out the shortage domestically. Russia is considering \u200bfuel imports to tackle shortages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ukrainian military destroyed more than 60,000 tons of ammunition of Russia\u2019s Baltic Fleet arsenal near St. Petersburg, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said Wednesday after hearing a report from head of the Main Intelligence Department of Ukraine\u2019s Defense Ministry, Lieutenant General Oleh Ivashchenko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFirst of all, we discussed the implementation of our plan for long-range sanctions against Russia over this war and the steps needed to bring peace closer. In particular, among the recent successful target engagements on the occupier\u2019s territory, it is worth noting the destruction of more than 60,000 tons of ammunition at a Baltic Fleet arsenal near St. Petersburg,\u201d Zelenskyi said in a post to X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also said an analysis by Ukraine\u2019s defense intelligence \u201cconfirmed that the designated targets of Russian military production facilities had been hit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUkraine\u2019s Defense Forces accurately struck Russian enterprises that produce radio-electronic equipment and other critical components for the needs of the Russian army,\u201d Zelenskyi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
