Kyiv, October 13, 2015.<\/strong> <\/em>A militant provocation took place in the ATO zone yesterday. In the evening, militants opened fire from small arms towards Ukrainian positions between Berezove and Novotroyitske. Fire was conducted from western outskirts of Dokuchayevsk that is controlled by militants. No flights of militant unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were registered yesterday. Ukrainian troops incurred no casualties, there were no wounded in action over the last day. Donetsk region is being cleaned up from explosive devices and unexploded ordnance. \u201cA demining group of the 93rd<\/sup> and 53rd<\/sup> mechanized brigades have recently neutralized 603 explosive items including mortar mines, artillery shells and other pieces of ammunition,\u201d said spokesman of Administration of the President of Ukraine on ATO-related issues Colonel Andriy Lysenko at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.<\/p>\n

Ukraine\u2019s Security Service detained a female militant informer. \u201cOver four months she was passing information on positions and movement routes of ATO forces to the enemy,\u201d noted Colonel Lysenko.<\/p>\n

Police discovered a grenade launcher and almost 85kg of gunpowder in a private house in Maryinka. Several days earlier law enforcement staff received intelligence that the house\u2019s residents were militant group members and may be storing weapons and explosives at home. \u201cIn course of the check the intelligence confirmed,\u201d added the ATO spokesman.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement staff discovered a hand-held antitank grenade launcher RPG-22 with ammunition as well as two wooden boxes with gunpowder in the basement of a private house. \u201cAccording to preliminary information the house\u2019s owners are on the occupied territories and use this residence for weapons storage,\u201d said Colonel Lysenko.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian policemen in cooperation with Ukraine\u2019s Security Service found two caches with weapons, ammunition and explosives in Donetsk region over the weekend. In Severodonetsk five grenade launchers, two machine guns, three Kalashnikov rifles, around 6000 ammunition rounds of various calibers, almost 70 ammunition pieces for antitank grenade launchers, 24 grenades, two anti-personnel mines and other items were seized. \u201cLaw enforcement staff discovered a cache with ammunition near Shchastia last Sunday, eight grenade launchers, 56 ammunition pieces for under-barrel grenade launchers, over 2000 rounds of ammunition, 19 grenades, 37 TNT blocks and other types of weapons were seized from the cache,\u201d said Colonel Lysenko.<\/p>\n
